Hello Everyone, I wanted to start off by introducing myself and give you some idea as to why I decided to start a book and travel blog.
First my name is Lindsey, I am a Mother of 5, a wife, and a Nurse. My children currently range from early teens to toddlers with a 10 year span from our oldest to our youngest. Yes I know we have a basketball team, and yes we know what causes it, and no we wouldn’t change a thing. Our home is full of the alphabet as we have some children that are on the spectrum and LGBTQ+ identifying. Our home and this blog will always be a safe space for those whom need it. My husband and I have been together for almost 20 years now. Dating as teenagers and marrying in our 20s we have built our life together. Nursing is something I fell into after taking an Anatomy class in high school and being drawn to know more about how the body works.
Hogwarts Castle at night.
Why books? Books have been an escape for me since finding Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine in the 5th grade. I think like many other readers, books have been there for me during the best and worst times in my life. Often helping me create friendships, grow as a person, and find hope. There are times I fell asleep begging for Harry Potter to be real. A Harvesting the Heart by Jodi Picoult influenced the name of one of our children. I got pregnant with our third child after struggling with fertility issues and reading Ford by J.A. Huss. Becauses reading is an escape for me you will often find me reaching for Fantasy, Contemporary, Romance, occasionally thrillers, but always Fiction.
Why travel? Some of my best memories as a child center around family trips. Those became important aspects of raising my own children and thankfully my husband shares that drive. We have stressful jobs and traveling together as a family helps us carve out that time to bond. We often travel to Disney because our kids are Princess, Villians, and Star Wars obsessed. Who am I kidding, so are we. Because we are a larger family, travel takes a lot of planning on our part. From finding the best deals to make travel affordable for us, to planning out each day, and even planning outfits ahead of time. With friends and family learning about all of our trips people often ask me for advice. Our last trip to Disney I realized I never wanted to leave, I wanted our lives to be a vacation, to make that a reality I became a travel advisor.
Like many the pandemic made me realize I was chasing things that didn’t make me happy. I spent so much time away from my family working as a Nurse Manager while my kids struggled. So now I’ve decided to step away from that and towards the things that do make me happy. Those things just happen to be my family, books, and traveling. Please follow along with my journey to becoming a book blogger and a travel agent. I will be posting travel tips, maybe even travel deals, book reviews, and updates or news on my favorite authors. Hopefully you’ll find something interesting here to enjoy along the way.
